2026/2027 Season
AN EXCITING SEASON AHEAD
Now in our 6th year, Carmina Bowena, Bowen Island’s very own Early Music chamber choir, is branching out from our Renaissance roots and taking a stroll down Broadway for our first show this season. Held at the Bowen Theatre on Monday November 23rd at 7pm, this show “Broadway on Bowen - A Musical Revue,” will be 90 minutes of fun for all ages. Whether you want to sing along, or just sit back and enjoy the choir, soloists and audience singing along to our best loved songs from Broadway, a fun night is sure to be had. We will have live accompaniment with words projected on the screen. You won’t want to miss this, Bowen!
Amid the dark long nights of winter, the choir will bring light and warmth to your souls by performing a concert in candlelight, “Contemplative Candlelight” at Cates Hill Chapel, on Saturday January 30th at 7pm. Approximately one hour of a cappella (unaccompanied) pieces drawn from the Renaissance period and 21st century will be performed with the audience sitting around the choir in a circle. Come cozy up in the warm blanket of voices, and bathe your soul in ethereal soundscapes. Proceeds benefit the Food Bank.
Put on your dancing heels and wear your green, “St. Patrick’s Day Irish Pub Night” at the Legion is back by popular demand! We sold out quickly last year, so get your tickets early for Wednesday March 17th at the Bowen Island Legion. Words on the screen, live accompaniment, choir, soloists, audience sing-a-longs and delicious food by Rock Salt Kitchen. A great festive evening if you are looking for a fun community event for all ages.
And to wind up our season, Carmina Bowena will be performing “Musica Eclectica” at our dearly loved home away from home, Tir-na-nOg Theatre on Saturday June 26th, 7pm. This concert, approximately 90 minutes, promises as the title suggests, an eclectic selection of songs from the Renaissance to modern times, featuring Sola Musica, Bowen Island’s instrumental consort. In addition to the Renaissance rock stars of the 16th century and choral masters of the 21st century, we will be featuring Canadian composers such as Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot and Stan Rogers, with song favourites you are sure to enjoy.
We look forward to singing for you soon!
